15-25 May @ Tig Roy
« As the world has altered over the past year, the emphasis on art and it's modes has adapted to include a more broad range of artistic avenues, swaying away from the traditional in theatre approach to newer technologies and methods. Throughout these residency periods Roisin will work with film maker and dancer Joshua Scott, to explore the theme of isolation. Over the course of Roisin's weeks in residence she will not only develop choreographically but also explore new modes of presenting her creative ideas in her works while developing her choreographic voice. »

Tipperary Dance Platform’s
International Residencies Exchange Programme 2021 has been designed to meet the needs of dance artists who wish to broaden their reach across Europe, build audiences and international links. Central to the programme is the provision of space to create and develop dance works at our partnering venues Trois C-L in Luxemburg and Grand Studio in Brussels and locally in Tipperary at Tig Roy and Nenagh Arts Centre. Tipperary Dance Platform hosts four artists/companies: two from Luxembourg and Brussels and, following an Open Call, two Irish based artists.
Each artist will be offered fully supported residencies along with dance artists from each of our partnering organisations. The artists will be encouraging to critically engage with local audiences through public presentations of works in development. COVID regulations permitting, residencies will take place between July and October 2021.
The TDP Residency Programme is funded / supported by the Arts Council of Ireland and supported by Tipperary County Council, Tipperary Excel Arts Centre, Trois C-L, Grand Studio, Nenagh Arts Centre and Tig Roy.

« Choreographer Maria Nilsson Waller is together with sound designer Ross Dowling (TALOS, Luke Murphy, The Sei) and multidisciplinary artist Stace Gill (Flora Fauna Project, The Sei) developing new work around the theme of ADDICTION. We are in the early phases of development, and the time in the studios will be used for research and conversations mixed with creative experiments using sound, movement, video and set/installation. »

« In this new short piece ROOT, we will present the impact of body shapes, skin, and lines on our emotions, thoughts, and memories and the confusion which can be created thereby. The research will be based on the colors, lines, and shapes of several abstract paintings translated to movements.
What is great about abstract dance is that it gives us the freedom to imagine and explore and to find our own meanings. The piece will include contemporary dance, visual art, and nude art. »

25 Sept - 05 Oct @ Grand Studio, Brussels
« With the support of an Arts Council Next Generation Award I am currently receiving coaching from expert in choreographic improvisation, Rosalind Crisp. It is an enriching period of learning and growth for my solo practice. During this residency at TDP and in Grand Studio Brussels I will continue this enquiry in improvisation and the creation of performance scores. This opportunity to expand my international connections is exciting, as is the chance to travel for work after an extended period on working in an isolated way. »

« We will continue the choreographic research linked to our next creation "création 2022". This new show, scheduled for January 2022, is part of a series of works that are an ode to creative errors arising from the friction between the organic and the digital. An ode to accidents or malfunctions as openings to new creative processes. »
